Foo Fighters now have more Grammys than any other American band in history

The Foo Fighters won the 2022 Grammy Awards, but they couldn’t take the stage and thank their friends, family and fans. Their drummer, Taylor Hawkins, died a few days ago, on March 25, just before the band was supposed to play a gig in Colombia. Following the tragedy, the Foo Fighters canceled all of their upcoming shows, including their performance at the Grammy Awards on April 3.

It would have been great if the Foo Fighters had attended the Grammy Awards, as they now hold a major record.

A statement from the band read: “It is with great sadness that the Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the stunning loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins.

“We are sorry and share the disappointment of not seeing each other as planned. Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, heal, bring our loved ones together, and enjoy all the music and memories we’ve made together.
With love, Foo Fighters.

Foo Fighters had numerous shows scheduled in North America and Europe for most of 2022.

Host Trevor Noah delivered a touching tribute to Hawkins during the portion of the night Foo Fighters was supposed to play.

“It was the part of the show where I was supposed to introduce the Foo Fighters,” Noah said. “We would have celebrated with them as they won three Grammy Awards earlier today. But they are of course not there due to the tragic passing of their legendary drummer Taylor Hawkins. Our hearts go out to Taylor’s family, friends, Foo Fighter family and all of their fans around the world.

The Grammys released a tribute video full of Hawkins’ best Foo Fighters moments. The video kicked off the In Memoriam segment of the awards show.
